700 Flags, Countless Stories

May 8, 2025—This May, Epic Remembrance Returns to EpicCentral in Grand Prairie. Running from May 12-27, the entire GrandLawn at EpicCentral will transform into a powerful visual tribute as 700 American flags stand solemnly to remember our fallen heroes. The expanded installation represents a sacred opportunity for our community to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is not merely a long weekend or the unofficial start of summer—it is a day of remembrance to honor those in our Military who died while serving the United States of America. During “Memorial May,” we extend our remembrance to include First Responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our communities.

Each flag in this installation tells a story. The tribute cards attached to the flagpoles bear the names, service details, and dates of sacrifice of heroes from the One Tribe Foundation’s WATCH (We Are The Children of Heroes) Program, fallen Grand Prairie Police Officers killed in the line of duty, and military service members from Grand Prairie who gave their lives for our freedom.

Numbers on paper cannot convey the weight of sacrifice as powerfully as seeing hundreds of American flags rippling in the breeze. This visual representation offers visitors a profound understanding of how much blood has been shed for our country. When you see the faces of these fallen heroes and meet the children, widows, and widowers they left behind, their sacrifice becomes deeply personal.

We invite all community members to visit this powerful tribute on the GrandLawn at EpicCentral. Families who have lost a loved one while serving our country or community are especially encouraged to participate by adding a tribute card to honor their hero.

As we walk among these flags, let us remember that each represents not just a life lost, but a family forever changed. This Memorial Day, may we all take a moment to reflect on the true cost of our freedom and the sacred duty we have to remember those who paid the ultimate price.
